EZ Lite Cruiser Heavy Duty Model
The EZ Lite Cruiser Heavy Duty model was a unique power chair, which was the first in the line of EZ Lite Cruiser’s ‘larger’ capacity chairs. The EZ Lite Cruiser Heavy Duty model was available for about a year before it was discontinued and replaced with their ‘Deluxe’ line of power chairs — DX8 with 8″ rear wheels, DX10 with 10″ rear wheels, and DX12 with 12″ rear wheels.
EZ Lite Cruiser Heavy Duty Model Review
To start our review, we’ll say that the Heavy Duty model was about the same overall frame design as the original (Standard) EZ Lite Cruiser, except that it was widened and extra support was added to accommodate heavier users. Even though it boasted a 396 pound maximum user capacity, it was actually not suitable for users approaching such a high weight, because the seating area would not comfortably sit users of that size (due to their weight.) The manufacturer realized this, and has since gone to realistic maximum capacity of 330 pounds for users in the Deluxe line. We appreciate the manufacturer realizing this, and not just boasting a high weight to ‘one up’ their competitors, who obviously still boast the 396 pound+ weight capacity, without realizing that it is not fitting for users of that size.
EZ Lite Cruiser Heavy Duty Model Characteristic Features
By and large, all of the components on the EZ Lite Cruiser Heavy Duty model were basically the same as the Standard Model, with exception to their widths to account for the wider frame. The noticeable difference was the attractive and rugged 12″ rear wheels, which had fabulous treading that gave it great handling on rugged terrain.
The controller system, consisting of the Joystick and CPU was also the same used on the Standard Model, as well as other power chairs, such as the KD Smart Chair, the Foldawheel PW-999UL, among others.
The fabric parts were all the same as on the Standard Model, and overall the same quality found on other chairs. What made this chair special was the 12″ rear wheels, which is an attractive feature that many users look for. Realizing this, and as mentioned above, the EZ Lite Cruiser released 3 new variations of a larger capacity chair, with a slew of new features not seen on any other light weight and foldable power wheelchairs, in their Deluxe line. Now, if you wanted a Heavy Duty style chair like this, you are able to select from 8″, 10″ and 12″ rear wheels.
Since the Heavy Duty Model is no longer being produced, it is tough to find them for sale, but we have seen a few listed on eBay and Amazon at extraordinary prices.
